Crowding and Population Growth

Crowding

Crowding is a substantial issue in West Hills as there is very little room left to expand outwards. This is true for neighboring cities such as Woodland Hills and Canoga Park as well. Crowding is a especially a problem here because West Hills has primarily single family residences, rather than condominiums and apartment buildings which house more people using less space. Crowding directly feeds into the traffic problem in West Hills and will exacerbate other issues eventually, in unchecked.

Population Growth

The population is not growing at an alarming rate, and the city has a relatively high ratio of citizens above thirty-five, but issues such as traffic and school crowding make it alarming nonetheless. Schools such as Hale Middle School, El Camino Charter High School, and Pierce College all face issues with their overabundance of students as well. Population growth is a problem that government officials should keep an eye on. On the whole, however, the population is not growing at a particularly alarming rate, though the city could not sustain a substantial growth rate.
